Macadamias, history and Australia Day

"The very concept of objective truth
is fading out of the world.
Lies will pass into history. "
George Orwell

"Until lions have their historians,
tales of the hunt
shall always glorify the hunters. "
African Proverb

"The past is malleable and flexible,
changing as our recollection interprets
and re-explains what has happened. "
Peter Berger

Even a good black and white photograph is not black and white. There are hundreds of subtle gradations of grey. And so with Life and History. It's complicated; not clear cut. Memories fade like rhyming echoes. Recollections become tactical, considered, limited, controlled and edited for consumption by an unsuspecting public.

"It sounds crazy, I know, but when I swim in the sea I talk to it.
I never feel alone when I’m out there. "
Gertrude Ederle

Quote

"Age is just a number.
It's totally irrelevant
unless, of course,
you happen to be a bottle of wine. "
Joan Colling
